The Nursing Society developer the Peer Support Network as a Facebook group for students to join to network, seek peer support and share their stories whilst they fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The amazing production of Grease was produced by Almost Famous. The shows broke AF records, with ticket sales and the scale of set and costume. And has been deemed by many as their best musical yet. The cast was a great mixture of 1st, 2nd and third, with five main roles played by 1st years, including the lead sandy. Everyone had so much fun creating it and we are so proud to have created a show that has made history within Almost Famous Theatre Company!!
The reason that I am nominating this event is due to the amount of effort that the entire society put into their costumes and how it really stood out that everyone found the whole thing really enjoyable. The icing on the cake was that this was SGS's first charity event of the year and they raised £230.16 for the Mermaids charity that helps children with gender dysphoria and their families.
This was a super important show in today's society and helped tackle important issues including mental health, LGBT+ right, homelessness and body image. it was such fun to take part in and help spread awareness of these issues. Everyone worked so hard for this show, it is amazing to see everyone's confidence build and grow from when they first join SUDS to when they get on the stage and perform with us for the first time.
