This year the shows put on have been amazing with Grease the musical and Out of Sight out of Murder as well as the Miscast show in December. But even during the crisis the society is still doing so many amazing things. Workshops with west end performers and also technical theatre workers. As well as this the committee have given society members something to do with creative challenges and recommendations on movies and more.
Our show 'Now is the the Time' sold out a show and it was an empowering show that was so much fun to put on. As a society we have done various other events such as workshops with west end professionals and planned to do a flashmob. Collectively we have also raised £850 for charity through online quizzes in lockdown and wearing fancy dress on halloween, Christmas jumpers and yellow to raise money for mental health charities.
SalFor' Laughs have worked incredibly hard this year to grow its membership and give more and more people the chance to access and enjoy comedy. SalFor' Laughs have also put on several stand-up events, inviting alumni to perform and giving every student a chance to experience the fresh, comedic talent found here at Salford. As a society, they have created a safe and welcoming community where new talented is nurtured and discovered.
The gaming society has been such a big part of my university life this year, I didn't know what to expect when I first walked in on one of the nights however I didn't know what to expect but I was met very warmly by all of the society members and honestly I've been having such a blast all year, people seem to think gaming society is nothing but sat playing video games but it's a lot more than that. The society also wished to host charity events for charities that were put forward by society members and not just dictated by the committee. We were able to host three of these events before our fourth one was canceled and later held online instead.
