Welcome to your BUCs team sports page. On here you can find out what BUCs is, and also the resources you need when conpeting in BUCs.
British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) is the national governing body for student sport in the UK. They facilitate and deliver all cross-university competitions, national events, campaigns and further opportunities to promote physical activity within student sport settings.
Salford SU offers clubs to enter into the leagues that BUCS lead so that our students can compete against other universities predominately in the Northwest Region for League Games and then all over the country for Cup Games. BUCs is played on a Wednesday between 1pm – 10pm, and dependent on where you are playing you may be asked to leave campus for away games a lot earlier then this to get to the venue before kick-off.
To enter your club into BUCs there are a couple of things that you need to do as a club to assure you can compete and represent Salford SU week in, week out in line with the constant fixture load it brings with it. There are 3 steps to this:
We currently have 15 teams in BUCs this year, 4 teams in campus leagues and a further 2 teams in external local leagues, looking to get accepted into BUCs next year.
As well as leagues BUCs also offer up events that you can enter throughout the year. Maybe we don’t have the club you are looking for, or maybe that club are only recreational. This does not mean you cannot enter BUCs it means you will just have to enter an event as an individual which the SU will also support you with.
BUCS is a platform where students compete to be the best and not only for themselves as a club but to also prove that Salford SU are the best, and each promotion and table/cup position Salford SU sports teams have the higher up the BUCs points table we go and gain bragging rights of who is the best university at sports in the UK.

For those of you already in BUCs please see below for some relevent resources that you can use throughout the season.
Although there is training online for these please see the BUCs guide on how to do the following
Please also make sure you have a read through the BUCS Rules and Regulations for general competiton and then for your specific sport ready for the new season.
As you will know from your training please see links below on how to complete your jobs roles before a match and after the match in terms of team sheets and result posting.
Also see below for the playing under protest form just in case you feel like the match you are about to play or has been played was not done so in a fair fashion. For instant, the ref was biased or the opposing team feilded their first team instead of their third team. It is mandatory for all captains of both teams to sign the form and then you need to have it sent to your institution line coordinator within 24 hours.
