We are an environmental education charity that works with young people across the UK with the aim of empowering the next generation to protect the natural world. Our programmes build knowledge and encourage young people to take action through environmental projects.
Action for Conservation makes volunteering easy and fun! We’ll provide you with all the training and materials needed for you to flourish in this role, with opportunities that are flexible and rewarding. We invest in people; our volunteers are paramount to the running of our programmes and it is the diversity in the stories of our volunteers which enriches the experiences of our young people. Volunteering with AFC could involve:
Action for Conservation (AFC) is looking for passionate environmentalists to join their dynamic team of volunteers in the North West region. If you are studying conservation, are an enthusiastic campaigner, or are interested in working with young people, this could be a great opportunity for you. Individuals from diverse backgrounds are also welcome in our organisation.
We have several programmes where volunteers can help out, including our WildED programme in secondary schools, summer nature camps, and our yearly Ambassador programme for camp graduates. In the info pack (linked below), there are several roles described - if you are unsure which to pick, we would recommend applying for the Youth Engagement Volunteer role, as this is a broad role that involves volunteering in our WildED programme and Ambassador events throughout the year.
The WildED programme supports school/college students in delivering local environmental projects that have a positive impact on wildlife and increase their connection to nature. Volunteers help facilitate workshops and share their experiences of working/studying in the conservation sector, showing students what ‘real’ conservationists look like. Workshops are fun, rewarding, and a fantastic opportunity to showcase your experience and work with amazing young people!
Our yearly Ambassador programme involves a series of fun and educational events for our nature camp graduates to help them broaden their knowledge of nature and environmental issues and solutions, and encourage and support them to take action themselves.
If you don't currently have loads of conservation experience but you are still interested in the opportunity please don't hesitate to apply. We will be training you on the workshop materials and providing you with the chance to expand on your knowledge in this area.
Full training will be provided.
If you are interested in volunteering with us, please check out our info pack and fill in our online form, and someone from Action for Conservation will get in touch with you as soon as they can!
