Our Cat foster volunteers help thousands of cats each year by providing support, care, and love in a safe and calm setting, helping them on their journey to find new homes.

You could be part of this amazing team and directly help the many pets in our care.

What you will be doing

  • Caring for Blue Cross cats and providing them with a safe environment in your own home until they can be rehomed
  • Supporting cats who might be struggling to cope with cattery life or may be recuperating from operations
  • Transporting your foster cat to and from a Blue Cross site or vets as required
  • Providing all the care they need including feeding, socialising, administering medication, grooming and cleaning. This may also include following behaviour programmes

The skills you need

  • Previous experience of handling and caring for cats
  • Access to a car to undertake journeys to and from our rehoming centre and vets
  • A spare room or safe quiet area within your home so cats can settle in at their own pace
  • Willingness to learn and follow Blue Cross procedures and undertake training provided
  • The ability to provide timely and regular communication with our foster teams through phone or email
