New Student Charter - Your Rights and Responsibilities Explained
18th June 2012 11:03 am
A new student charter has been created through collaboration by the Students’ Union with the University.
The Student Charter outlines the rights and responsibilities of every Salford student: it tells you what you can expect from the University and in turn what commitment the University expects from you.
There is a section dedicated to the support and representation provided for students at Salford by the Students’ Union.
The Student Charter is intended to give you the confidence that the University is committed to ensuring you get the best out of your time at Salford. It details the information and services you can expect. You’ll also find details of what is expected of you as a student, as well as links to the important information you need to have a great student experience.
Caroline Dangerfield, President of the Students’ Union, said: “It is vital that all students know what they can expect of the University and their Students’ Union, and understand their own responsibilities in the learning partnership.
“The Salford Student Charter does this in a clear, concise way which I am sure will further strengthen the relationship between the University and students.”
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Martin Hall said: “We have spent the 2011-12 session working closely with the Students’ Union to produce a Charter for the University, which will give our students confidence in the investment they are making in their future by choosing to study at Salford.
“The Salford Charter builds on existing good practice in the sector and demonstrates the University’s continued commitment to providing a high quality academic experience.”
The Charter will be formally launched at the beginning of the new academic year in September 2012. It will apply to all registered students of the University on taught or research programmes, both on and off campus, from the 2012-13 session.
