The Salford Student Life Award

Your Step to Success…

Did you know that by being a committee member in an activity group, by setting up your own group, or by acting as a sports coach to others in your community, you are already one step to achieving the Salford Student Life Award and gaining extra recognition for your all hard work?

The Salford Student Life Award will encourage you to develop the necessary skills and abilities to succeed in the world of work on graduation, boost your career prospects and gather evidence which you will be able to use when applying for jobs or articulating your skills to potential employers.

One major aspect of the award is volunteering. You might not realise it, but as an activities committee member, you are already volunteering in the University community, and you can count these hours towards the award. All you will then have to do is complete a series of other tasks that benefit you, including improving your CV, with one to one help from a careers consultant, delivering a presentation to a panel of local employers, gaining invaluable feedback from the professional sector on your technique and attending skills development sessions in a range of areas such as Public Speaking, Confidence Building, IT, Languages and Project Management: all invaluable skills that employers seek in students and graduates.

‘The Student Life Award offers a fantastic opportunity for students to learn some of the vital everyday skills needed for employment, skills which are not always acquired on the academic side of the students' courses.’ Alex Cairns, Managing Director of Tetra Marketing Ltd.

How do I sign up?

In order to sign up for the award in either Semester 1 or Semester 2, all you have to do is go to an initial Information Session, where you will be given all the information you need to start your one year award journey.
