The Students’ Union can offer you a variety of opportunities to both meet new people and develop the skills and experience that will help you stand out from the crowd when you graduate. Some of these are listed below.
Be the voice of Salford students
Would you like to be a spokesman for other students? You could be a Student Representative or Student Liaison Representative (SLR) - both play a crucial role in ensuring that everyone has their say when it comes to their course and act as the link people between students, the Students’ Union and the University. Getting involved will give you the opportunity to make a real impact on enhancing students’ lives while developing a range of skills and experience that will set you apart from the crowd when you graduate. If this all seems new to you, don’t worry, your Students’ Union will provide you with all the training and support you need.

Get Involved in Student Activities
Getting involved in Student Activities is a great way to meet new people and feel part of the student community here at Salford. The Union has over 50 activity groups, covering interests that range from snow sports to literature to charity work. There are also a number of religious and international groups, which can help you meet people with similar backgrounds or beliefs.
Each activity group has a number of positions available to help you gain a variety of skills and experience, from organising publicity to managing finance. If you can’t find a student activity group that matches your particular interest you could even start your own. Just get in touch and we’ll provide all the support you need to make it happen.
